CRYPTO PRICES INCHING UP BUT STOCK MARKET BEARISH? WAIT, WHAAAAT??😳

So guess what happened this morning? The crypto markets moved higher, and investors were happy to see more stability than there’s been in several weeks! Can I get a YEAH?! Also, in the past 24 hours Bitcoin (BTC) was up by almost 5%, Ethereum (ETH) was up by 6.8%, and Polygon (MATIC) also jumped 21%!😳🤷🏾‍♀️

I’m actually surprised that crypto has jumped in price today, because from what I can tell about stock markets and global commodity markets, they are looking pretty bearish today! Coindesk dot com is saying that “Stock indexes are down nearly 1%, while gold and oil are down 1.6% and 1.3%, respectively.” So it’s interesting to me that crypto markets were edging up in the middle of all this today.

Also, Ethereum's ninth shadow fork went live. (On Monday’s post I’ll get into what that really is, and what it means for ETH) But because it went live I’ll take that as a sign that we are inching closer to the ETH merge I referred to last week. I read today that investors have been anticipating the ETH upgrade especially since it's supposed to reduce transaction costs for ETH🙌🏾 as well as increase the number of transactions that can be performed per second! Things are looking up for ETH!

With the ETH merge we’ll see staking rather than mining being used to verify our ETH transactions once the merge is completed. I’m not sure how that will work as staking requires us to leave an amount of crypto locked up (the same as with a certificate of deposit (CD) in a regular bank); in order to participate in the verification process.

So it seems to me like no one’s ETH transactions will be verified unless we stake a certain amount of crypto? Are there limits or ceilings to the amounts we must stake? How long do we have to stake it for? What will our interest rates be? How does that work as far as getting our transactions verified? I have lots of questions, but you know when I get the answers I’ll be passing them on to you!

Stay tuned!
