DISCIPLINE & PRODUCTIVITY PART 3 - EARLY TO RISE?

This one was huge for me. Because being an early riser meant that I had to reconfigure my entire nighttime routine so that I could get to bed on time in order to wake up on time so that my days could be more productive and successful.

I mean …. we could go to bed at 4:30 am and wake up at 5:30, but what kind of day would we have, and how productive can we possibly be with just one hour’s worth of sleep? A big part of discipline and productivity is making sure we get our rest and that means enough hours of good, peaceful, rest and getting it consistently.

The everyday choices that we make affect us in the long run and the amount of sleep we get is an everyday choice that we get to change whenever we want to. If you’d like to be an energetic early riser there are some things you can do (if you work nights then create a similar schedule just change the times):

  1. Determine your dinner time and eat at or before that time. Give your body the time it needs to digest it before you hit the bed.

  2. Know what time you will take your last phone call and stick with it. Don’t be shy about letting people know when that time is, and don’t take calls after that time!

  3. Set a time to turn off electronic devices, except maybe for your phone (in case you need to be awakened by the alarm).

  4. Know in advance how long it takes you to wind down. Are you the type of person that turns the computer off, heads straight to bed and immediately you are sound asleep? Or are you the person that takes an hour (or maybe 2) to wind down enough to where you can go to sleep within 30 mins of getting in bed? Knowing those stats are important.

Consistency is also very important. Doing those things consistently night after night will bring your body into a divine flow that can get you the best and most restful sleep ever, and wake you up refreshed, reinvigorated, and ready to tackle whatever the day brings!
