DISCIPLINE & PRODUCTIVITY PART 1 - DISTRACTED OR FOCUSED?
This week we’re going to zero in on what it takes to keep us focused and what happens (as well as what causes) us to be distracted.
I used to be one of the most distracted people you could find but thank God that season is over. From something as simple as reading a book or an article, then having a thought about something else, and dropping the book/article and moving on to that thing I just thought about (that had nothing to do with my assignment for that day)🙁 … to something as big as setting a goal for my life but then becoming distracted by helping to put out fires in other people’s lives ….. I was the Queen of Distraction; it was pretty sad. But that’s now in my past, never again!
Distractions come in many disguises. It’s something like deception in that you don’t realize you’ve been deceived or distracted until the deception or distraction is over. I’m praying for us today that we will not only recognize distractions but that we will be able to override them with our words and actions.
Distractions come to lead us away from purpose, to drag us away from the important tasks at hand. But it becomes easy to be distracted when we don’t consider that the task at hand was important to begin with! Let’s take a step back and review what our goals are for the last quarter of this year. How important are these goals? How much money will you have by December 31? How much business/new clients will you have by the end of the year? What about your job, what promotion are you aiming for? How many pounds will you gain or lose? What will your food lifestyle look like?
I read a post from Mike Sotero where he mentioned that distracted people live lives with little results. Whew! I escaped that one, lol!
If we don’t keep our goals in our faces daily, we lose sight of what’s important, and then what was once a very important goal has now become something that we may or may not do depending on how much time we have.😢😩 According to INC dot com, that’s what happens to 92% of people every year, that is so sad!
92 out of every 100 people never reach their goals! They forget about what was once important and jump on any bus that comes by. There are only 8% of people who hold fast to their goal sheets and dream boards and see those things come to life.
You and I are in that group of 8% of people that accomplish our goals. We don’t need anyone to push us toward our goals. We’re spending time with the Word of God and with the Spirit of God and HE is guiding our steps. Whether your goals are about your eating habits, your job, business, hair, your spiritual life, your weight, or your vacation - God is willing to hear you and lead you by His Spirit. Distraction will then become a thing of the past if we let Him lead!🤸🏿♀️🙌🏾🙏🏿
