CRYPTOCURRENCY AND THE 2022 MID-TERM ELECTIONS PART 2
Yesterday we talked about the new voting bloc of citizens who are ready to vote for candidates that are open to and supportive of cryptocurrency. Let’s continue the discussion.
In a VOX dot com article dated October 31, they quoted a PEW Research August 2022 report mentioning that in the USA the people who are likely to use crypto are people under the age of 50 and people with higher incomes. Right now only about 16 percent of US adults have used cryptocurrency at least once.
The article also said that men are 14% more likely to use crypto than women, and that Black, Hispanic, and Asian Americans are slightly more likely to use crypto than white Americans. Now that is interesting!
A candidate that uses or is supportive of cryptocurrency won’t get my vote unless I know where they are concerning other major issues, including those concerning the Black community. But I do know that enough people now own crypto so that group could eventually have a greater say than they do right now.
There are many other major issues besides cryptocurrency that can derail and disrupt party lines: issues like racism, gun reform, climate change, voting rights, and abortion (among other things) have a large platform right now and we should pay attention to them! Both Democrat and Republican candidates have supported as well as criticized crypto, but there is a group called the Congressional Blockchain Caucus, that are lawmakers from both parties who are studying the crypto technology, so we know that things are at least moving in the right direction!
But from what I’ve been reading, more people (from both sides of the aisle) are in favor of fewer regulations for cryptocurrency but with the last Executive Order of the Biden administration laying out national policies for digital assets, no one knows for sure what the crypto future will look like - but we will be watching!👀
